Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Healthcare

On March 1, 2010, Citrus Memorial Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Citrus Memorial Health System, raised over $85,000 at the 5th Annual Randall Jenkins Memorial charity Golf Tournament at the world famous Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto.

Presenting sponsor for the event was Robins & Morton and the event chairman was Jerry DeLoach, COO of Citrus Memorial. The tournament was an 18-hole, four-man scramble format. Contests included chipping, putting, black jack and hole-in-one contests, along with drawings for spa packages, gift certificates, autographed Mike Alstott memorabilia and a threesome at Black Diamond Ranch.

Players spent a day on the course and conversed with Citrus Memorial staff and board members about the capital campaign and planned Family Care Health & Education Center in Lecanto. Golfers included former player Mike Alstott of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"The Randall Jenkins Memorial Golf Tournament has always been one of our leading fund raising events, and it is through events like these that we are able to raise funds that allow Citrus Memorial Health System to introduce new programs, develop improved facilities and provide our community with the very best healthcare available", said Chris Pool, Director of Marketing and Philanthropy.

Citrus Memorial's Capital Campaign was launched in 2004 to raise funds for new facilities to meet the increased demands of our growing community. The planned Family Care Health and Education Center will be built in the Allen Ridge Medical Facility on CR 491 in Lecanto and, as its name implies, will focus on health care education and family medical services ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. This will be the first building ever constructed with 100% donor dollars and made possible by the generosity of Citrus County residents. Donations continue to be accepted for the project through the Foundation Development Office at Citrus Memorial.
